Up here in Surfer's Paradise now...quite the little party spot. It's alot different from the much quieter atmoshpere of Byron Bay. There are high rise apartments everywhere, fine dining restaurants and fast food joints (and Nando's chicken :)).
David and I are staying in a little hostel 1 block from the beach and in the midst of all the downtown action. He ended up in a 5-bed mixed dorm whereas I am in a 5-bed female only dorm. The dorm life is great. Just like being back at uni! The girls (2 English/2 Sweedish) I'm bunked with actually went to bed at a decent time last night (getting sleep in a hostel is hit-or-miss depending on who you room with). David on the other hand didn't get much sleep at all. He roomed with two drunk irish guys that brought girls back around 6am this morning. Oh well, luck of the draw!
The night life around here is huge. On the main walks, street performers put on shows and people go out to clubs/pubs. In walking around at 11pm last night, the streets were still full of people!
This morning I went running along all the shops and around/on the beachfront. Quite the cooker early on in the day. Was drenched in sweat by the time I was back at the hostel. I think I might just cruise the shops this morning and beach it later this afternoon. I'm gonna come home a brown baby!
Hi Sweetie! sorry you missed my call this morning...love you!
